Long Awaited Day of Travel

When the day came to finally leave it felt surreal. I was actually leaving. I wouldn't be able to drive home for a weekend visit and mom's homemade cookies, but somehow I knew I would manage. A coffee at Tim Horton's with the family (minus John) and a good friend Damon, was the perfect send off for my trip. No looking back. 10 months of traveling, experiences, studies and adventure lay ahead.

After a transfer in the Vancouver Airport and a 14 hour flight, I finally touched down in my new home, New Zealand.
It was an exciting feeling knowing that I was in a new country halfway around the world. Less exciting was spending 18 hours waiting for my connecting flight to Dunedin. I
caught up on some sleep, had two meals at McDonalds, watched three movies - Dear John was the best of them, and wandered as far from the airport as I could manage without getting lost.

This little sign helped to brighten my mood a little...I honestly couldn't stop laughing...silly me.

At 1 in the morning I finally reached my end destination. Luckily I had a friend's couch to crash on. Over the next few days it was my mission to find a place to live.
